03 · Cross-border compliance
The Operating Arrangement Matters
Paid cross-border passenger transport is regulated. Under Singapore’s cross-border point-to-point framework, that service is limited to licensed Singapore-registered and Malaysia-registered taxis; private hire cars cannot provide cross-border point-to-point trips for hire and reward.
Other eligible passenger transport, such as permitted bus or tourism arrangements, may operate under separate requirements. A vehicle’s size or appearance alone does not establish whether a paid cross-border service is authorised. Confirm the applicable vehicle and operating arrangement for your journey.

Work Backwards From Check-In
Begin with your airline’s check-in and baggage-drop requirements. Then allow separate time for the Johor Bahru road journey, Malaysia departure clearance, Singapore arrival clearance and possible congestion. No border clearance time can be guaranteed.

Carry valid travel documents and check the entry requirements that apply to each passenger. Clearance procedures can vary by checkpoint, lane, vehicle arrangement and officer instructions.
Passengers may need to alight and take passports, luggage or personal belongings through immigration and customs. Follow the instructions given at the checkpoint and the confirmed directions for continuing the journey after clearance.
Unless exempt, travellers must submit the SG Arrival Card within three days, including the day of arrival, before entering Singapore. Singapore citizens, permanent residents and long-term pass holders entering through the land checkpoints are among those exempt. The SG Arrival Card is not a visa.

After successful payment and confirmation, the quoted fare is locked for that confirmed journey. Later customer-requested amendments or approved additional journey costs may result in extra charges.
