Plan around the border, not just the distance

The drive may look short on a map, but total journey time depends on checkpoint traffic, immigration volume, vehicle category, road conditions and departure time.

Allow a generous buffer when travelling for a flight, meeting, hotel check-in or timed attraction. Weekends, school holidays, public holidays and commuter peaks can add substantial delays; no border clearance time can be guaranteed.

02 · Cross-border transport

Check the operating arrangement before you book

Under the current Singapore–Malaysia cross-border point-to-point framework, licensed Singapore-registered and Malaysia-registered taxis provide the regulated cross-border taxi service. Approved ride-hail platforms may also facilitate bookings for licensed cross-border taxis under the enhanced scheme.

Private hire cars are not permitted to provide cross-border point-to-point services for hire and reward under that framework. Separate eligible bus, tourism or commercial passenger-transport arrangements may operate under their own permit structures and conditions.

Vehicle type alone does not establish eligibility. A private car, MPV or van should not be assumed to have permission to provide the same paid cross-border service.

03 · Entry documents

Prepare your documents before departure

Every passenger should have a passport and any visa or entry approval required for their circumstances.

Eligible foreign travellers should check Malaysia’s current Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) requirements. Where an MDAC is required, it should be submitted within three days before arrival, subject to exemptions and traveller-category rules.

Before you leave

Check each passenger’s passport and entry requirements.
Submit an MDAC within the required window if applicable.
Keep hotel, onward travel or flight details accessible if needed.
Provide a contact number that remains reachable during the journey.

04 · Immigration & luggage

Will you need to alight with your bags?

It depends on the vehicle, lane, checkpoint arrangement and officer instructions. Some commercial or tour-vehicle arrangements require passengers to alight and carry luggage through immigration or customs clearance.

Keep passports and essential belongings close at hand. At the checkpoint, follow the driver’s directions and the instructions of immigration and customs officers.

05 · Timing

Choose a departure time with room for delays

There is no single reliable travel time for this route. Border conditions can change quickly, particularly around holidays and peak travel periods.

If you have a fixed commitment after the crossing, work backward from its start time and leave room for immigration, road traffic and the onward drive in Johor.

Count the bags as well as the passengers

A group with large suitcases, a stroller or golf bags may need more space than another group of the same size. Share luggage details when requesting a quote so the proposed vehicle can be assessed for the journey.

For selected cross-border arrangements, Valetra generally uses eligible commercial passenger-transport categories such as Standard MPV or Tour Van, subject to route, passenger count, luggage and operational suitability. The applicable operating arrangement must also meet its own cross-border requirements.

Review your route-based quote before paying

Valetra shows the applicable route-based fare for the journey and booking details entered online. Review the pickup, destination, vehicle option and quoted price before completing payment.

After successful payment and Booking Confirmation, the quoted fare is locked for that confirmed journey. Customer-requested changes or approved additional journey costs may result in extra charges.
